Continuous Line Drawing
For this art piece I began by drawing continuously with and HB pencil. Starting in the upper left and making my way down to the lower right side of the page. Each fish references came from separate images. I then used standard colored pencils on the blue fish in the lower right corner as well as the red fish to the upper left. Due to a time crunch I knew I would not be able to color the middle fish so my art teacher, Britt, suggested to outline it in black marker so it seemed like intentional unfinished art. |
Semester One
Pastel Portrait
Complimentary colors I used:
Purple/Green Red/Yellow As undertones, shadows, and highlights. Brown/White/Tan As skin tones and hair colors. Size: 18''x 24'' I drew a good friend of mine, her name is Jade. I absolutely adore her, she has always been supportive and inspiring to me. The very first steps of this project were gridding the image and our papers. From there we began to loosely and lightly sketch out or drawing to give a detailed outline for it. Our next step was to begin adding color with pastel! Starting with using few and simple colors, then adding undertones, highlights and shading colors. Adding the color of the eyes and hair was next, as well as coloring her shirt and background. The final steps where adding small details such as freckles, skin lines, highlights on eyes, and eyebrows. A few challenges in this project was giving thin lined details or not smearing the pastel accidentally. In smaller places blending became difficult as well as giving a realistic effect to our limited colors. |
